Regardless of how bad a consumers debt is, they have a handful of options in order to reach their ultimate goal, a debt free life. To be released from your debt, you will have to consider two important aspects, the amount of debt and the type of debt in order to carefully sketch out your plan the best way that will best suit you.

To receive professional free counseling, simply fill out our form and we will help you choose the most appropriate option to become debt free in the shortest amount of time.

The following are several ways to achieve debt solution:

* Self Repayment Plan
* Debt Settlement
* Debt Consolidation
* Debt Consolidation Loan
* Credit Counseling
* Credit Union
* Home Equity Loans
* Insurance
* Credit Cards
* Bankruptcy (leave it as last resort)

Self Repayment Plan

Starting this type of plan will need a lot of control from the debtor and also a great ability to restrain yourself from any unnecessary expenses. Budgeting is going to be a very important tool during this process, because it will allow you to control your expenses.

This plan will let you do everything on your own without the help of a consolidation program. You can also set an automatic payment with your bank so that you are obligated to pay.

Debt Settlement

Through out this process, a debt settlement agency negotiates with your creditors with the purpose of reducing your debt for as much as 60% to 70%. Always remember to ask for their fees policies, to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Debt Consolidation

Within this process, you will need professional counseling. In debt consolidation, all of your debts get consolidated into a single amount. Following this, a counselor negotiates with your creditors in order to reduce your debt by 40% to 50% as well as your interest rates.

Debt Consolidation Loan

This method allows you to combine all of your debt into one loan account. The main objective is to reduce the monthly installments by reducing the interest rates or extending the payment time period.

Credit Counseling

Credit counseling agencies work with payment plans that have the lowest interest rates possible. All of your payments go to an agency which in turn pays all of your creditors. Following this kind of plan, will help you become debt free in 4 to 5 years.

Credit Union

Almost all credit unions have very low interest rates for loans. You can find out more information on all requirements needed in order to apply for membership where you are currently working.

Home Equity Loans

This type of loan allows people to borrow money against the value of their houses. Most of these loans offer low interest rates and short payment periods.

Insurance

Although it is not very common, you can borrow money from your life insurance policy at a very low interest rate with the intention of fixing your debt problem. You will not have to repay this loan. All benefits will be reduced, but that will be all.

Credit Cards

The usage of credit cards can bring about some benefits. One positive aspect is that it gets you lower interest rates on a loan and a useful credit rating that will surely give you advantages among others. With low interest rates on a consolidated loan, you can set up a comfortable payment plan that will lead you to be debt free.

Bankruptcy

Here, we present you the last option that anybody should take into account, bankruptcy. People are not aware of the consequences that this method brings forth. Bankruptcy generates a harmful impact on your credit report for the following ten (10) years. For instance, your capacity of getting a new loan for almost anything will be null.

Following any of the methods explained above will surely lead towards a debt free life.

Make Sure You Know Everything There Is To Know About Cheaper Car Insurance

Of course we all want to save money on our bills, but sometimes it seems that everything is still expensive, especially when it comes to cars and insuring them. They can sometimes be a millstone around your neck. However it is possible to make savings when it comes to buying car insurance and one of the best ways to make savings on your premiums is to shop around.

You can get someone else (ie your insurance broker) to shop around on your behalf or you can have a look online. Buying online can not only save you a huge amount of money but it will also save you a whole lot of time and leg work.

Almost all online insurers can give you an almost instant quote which you are then able to consider and compare with other online companies. Some sites will also give you a comparison table on their site which even saves you the trouble of searching yourself. Of course you should always double check this information to make sure it is right and currently up to date as you can often find that once you fill in a full application, the premium can vary quite dramatically.

One of the most common reasons why people don't make savings on their car insurance is because they simply don't shop around. Along with this they fail to gain as much knowledge on the subject as they possibly can.

Understanding which policy you would be better taking also goes a long way to helping you save on your car insurance. For example there are two main types of insurance, third party, fire and theft, and fully comprehensive. The type of policy most suited for your needs should be taken into account but also bear in mind that fully comp, while covering you for more, will be the most costly.

There are many ways in which you can lower the cost further. If you have had advanced driving lessons then this should be stated - the safer you are regarded by the company then the lower the cost of your premium.

Your age and sex also plays an important factor in how much you pay for your car insurance. There are specialist websites that cater just for the young driver or say for the female driver and by going with one of these you can save yourself money on the cost of insurance.

Fitting better anti theft devices on your car can also save you money as can offering to pay a higher excess fee.

How To Improve Your Group Travel Experience

I took my first group tour this summer. That was a learning experience. Dont get me wrong. I had lots of fun, but for someone who has always traveled alone, I had some learning to do.

First things first! Getting to know my co-travellers! This was easy and fun, cause our group leader organized several get-togethers way in advance, so we could get to know each other, and get all or questions answered. And there were many questions, like, where would we stay, where can we buy travel insurance, what should we bring, what will immigration and customs documents will be need! And more.

Then roommates had to be assigned, because it would be cheaper to share a room than to have your own room. So unless you were a family , you got a roommate. I got two roommates, and we really hit it off. One roommate was a die hard shopper, and the other was an eternal organizer. So between the three of us, we had a ball.

But I did have to learn to be patient. Our group was very diverse. We had kids, teenagers, and some older persons. So things did not always move as quickly ( or as efficiently) as when I travel alone. We usually had to wait and make sure that everyone was accounted for before our tour bus could leave for the next stop. Hotel check-ins did not always go smoothly, but once we got settled the rooms were comfortable.

The key to enjoying group travel is to be patient and to be considerate. Be flexible and tolerant in order to accommodate others in the group, and do your best to stick to the itinerary schedule. Dont show up at 7:30 when the Bus was scheduled to leave at 7AM. Take your sense of humor with you, and you will definitely have a good time.

Group travel is an excellent way to make new friends and to foster old friendships. If you want to spend quality time with your friends, family members, or business colleagues and enjoy a wonderful vacation experience at the same time, then I highly recommend a group travel tour!

Hello From Orlando: A Walk Through Winter Park - A Hint Of New England In Florida

Just a few minutes north of downtown Orlando awaits Winter Park, a charming picturesque suburb steeped in history. After my excursion on the Scenic Boat Tour, my local expert Wanda Salerno took me on a little walk through town past beautiful historic neighbourhoods.

With is origins as a citrus growing region, Winter Park became a major destination for wealthy northerners during the early 1900s, who came into town by train to reach their elegant winter retreats, seeking shelter from the cold winters of the north. Elegant mansions and and stately old oak trees draped with Spanish moss bear witness to this historic era.

Wanda then took me through some of Winter Park's hidden courtyards, which are filled with specialty retail stores and galleries. Winter Park features a large variety of galleries and I had a chance to sample three of them, all of which carried vastly different artwork:

- Scott Laurent Collections
- Native Visions Gallery
- Timothy's

Our walk took us out on to Winter Park's main street, Park Avenue, which houses 10 blocks of specialty retailers, galleries and ecclectic restaurants. Park Avenue is flanked on its west side by Central Park which offers a welcome sanctuary of relaxation with its graceful fountain, walking paths and shaded benches.

We then went on to explore Casa Feliz ("Happy House" in Spanish), the signature residential work of renowned architect James Gamble Rogers II.

In 1932 Robert Bruce Barbour, a chemical engineer from Massachusetts, commissioned Rogers to design a home on Lake Osceola, which turned out to be the Andalusian-style masonry farmhouse that we see today. This home was not only cherished by Barbour, but by the community as well. Throughout its history, it has hosted garden club tours, symphony orchestra concerts, poetry social meetings and a dinner for author Sinclair Lewis.

In 2001, in order to prevent the house from demolition, Casa Feliz was moved across Interlachen Avenue to its present location on Park Avenue. This move was one of the most dramatic events in Winter Park's history. Casa Feliz was transported on 20 pneumatically levelled dollies, and an elaborate pulley system moved the house about 75 feet per hour. After the house was in position at its new location, skilled craftsmen worked on restoring it to its original 1933 condition. A special landscape design was commissioned to reflect the style of the era.

Today, Casa Feliz is available to rent for weddings, parties, business meetings and events. Its unique features provide the perfect backdrop for a truly memorable event.

As a centre of local culture, Winter Park also features three well-known museums:

- the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American art, which holds the world's most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including Tiffanys 1893 Chapel. The museum also features paintings, furniture and other works primarily from the late 19th and 20th centuries.

- the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Garden: 3 acres of gardens, featuring sculptures and painters by Albin Polasek. The museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

- the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, which focuses on western world art of the 20th century and includes paintings, drawings, sculptures and other art from America and Europe. This museum is located at Rollins College, one of the top rated liberal arts colleges in the country.

The Winter Park Historical Museum examines various historic time periods, interchanging exhibits and rotating displays highlight some of the changes that have occurred in central Florida.

While I explored the town my husband actually played a round of golf at the 9-hole Winter Park Country Club, which is nestled beautifully inside Winter Park's historic neighbourhood. The WPCC is the second oldest golf club in the Central Florida area and makes its way through the downtown Winter Park area and provides a challenge to even the most experienced golfer. He enjoyed his outing, and a cost of $12, it was an extremely affordable outing on a well-maintained golf course.

We capped off our excursion with an enjoyable dinner at a restaurant called 310 Park Avenue, right on Winter Park's main strip. While a good portion of the Orlando area is very new, Winter Park is a welcome oasis of history and ambience that is perfect for a day of exploring.

For more information on Winter Park contact the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, www.winterpark.org.

Attract Tenants Through Advertising

For a successful business, it is very necessary to advertise various products and services that are provided so that the customers can have a look at these products and then choose according to their tastes and preferences. By advertising, the business unit gains popularity and the overall growth is dependant on it as it contributes in increasing the level of profit.

Nowadays, advertising for real estate is also on the forefront as if you have a property to give it on rent but you are not finding an appropriate way to find a genuine buyer, you can advertise about your real estate and can find a large number of buyers that would be interested in taking your property at rent and paying you a handsome rental. Moreover, renting needs a lot of courage as it might be possible that the tenant might not pay the rent on time or keep your property with care.

Therefore, advertising your rental property is the best option to go with. These advertisements are easily accessible by various people and this helps in the marketing of property rentals. You can also take the services of a rental agency that will help you in getting a good tenant for your real estate. These rental agencies are gaining wide popularity because they attract a lot of people by their special renting schemes.

The best way to advertise your property for rent is to put your propertys specifications and details on your Local Flyer 20 or more zones and on national rental website as this will contribute in attracting a large number of buyers across the country and the rental for your property will have a larger market and thereby helping tremendously in increasing the value and interest of your property,

You can also go with the option of advertising or putting up a notice on your communitys board that will highlight your proposal of renting property at exclusive prices. One can also go with the option of increasing the visibility of the rental property notice at schools, colleges and offices.

In addition, when you will find a potential tenant, dont make hasty decisions and check the important details about the renter as if there will be a bad tenant, you will have to face severe problems.

Also, it is necessary to make the tenant acquainted with rules and regulations beforehand and a rental agreement should be duly signed. Last but not the least, while advertising; make sure that you dont miss to mention that you need potential and trustworthy tenants for your property

Brighton Travel Information & Tourist Guide

The City of Brighton and Hove is a modern, vibrant, cosmopolitan City by the Sea, situated between the beautiful South Downs and the Sussex Coast approximately 60 miles due south of the United Kingdom capital, London.

Brighton has long been one of the UKs biggest and most fashionable seaside towns and is a popular tourist resort with many hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities together with a considerable business conference industry.

Originally known as the modest fishing village of Brighthelmstone, this city has strong connections with the past with its regency architecture, Victorian Sea Life Centre, Brighton Pier, and of course The Royal Pavilion. By 1825 after Dr Richard Russell extolled the virtues of bathing in and drinking seawater, Brighton was born as a fashionable seaside resort.

Now it is a contemporary metropolis, with diverse shopping from Churchill Square and Western Road, to The Lanes and bohemian North Lanes, London Road and St James Street, Church Street and George Street in Hove. There is a new state of the art Library, restaurants, bars and clubs to suit every taste, theatres, cinemas, 10-pin bowling and casinos. In addition there are 2 universities, and a wide variety of sporting activities, including successful cricket, and football teams, and even a racecourse and greyhound stadium.

Another unique and historical attraction is Volks Railway, the oldest operating electric railway in the world. Created in 1883 by Magnus Volk, this 1 mile track links the Aquarium and Pier with Brighton Marina, with a half way stop near the childrens playground.

This year Brighton & Hove have been awarded its first ever Blue Flag award for its beaches at Hove Lawns and West Street. These guarantee that they are litter free and have clean swimming water. There is also a discreet naturist beach at Dukes Mound near Brighton Marina.

After a visit to Brighton Pier what better way to continue than with a stroll along the beachfront and down to the boardwalk. Here you can find the artists quarter and fishing museum. There is a traditional carrousel and various bars, clubs and restaurants under these historic arches. Further along the seafront you will discover a childrens playground, paddling pool and volleyball court.

From here you come face to face with the remaining wreck of the West Pier. This was originally built in 1866, has been lying derelict since 1975, and was destroyed by arson attacks in 2002. Although certain pieces from this Grade I listed building were removed and have been kept in storage.

However, the exciting news is that work is due to commence at the end of July on this site for the groundbreaking Brighton Eye. To be built at the shore end of the wrecked pier, the i360 (as it is also known) will have a 172 meter high needle tower, with an ascending and descending circular viewing platform with a capacity for 125 people. It will be Britains highest observation tower with breathtaking views along the coast, across the South Downs and across the Channel. Completion of this exciting and innovative construction is scheduled for 2009.

What Is A Car's Real Trade-in Value?

We all have the same goal when it comes to buying a car and making sure we get the most possible for our trade-in.

At the least, we want to make sure that we're not being taken advantage of.

So, with the advent of the internet and the myriad of car information now available to us, we point ourselves over to Kelley Blue Book to find this all-important value.

Later, when we're actually negotiating with a Dealer, we find it's not quite this easy. The Dealer's trade-in figure is lower than the one we got from the internet.

So, we whip it out and ask for an explanation, and rightfully so.

The truth of the matter is that a vehicle's "trade-in value" is not a number that is simply black and white. It's quite "gray" actually.

You see, it's not unlike valuing your own home. What is your home worth? Well, you can get a ballpark idea ... maybe a general price range. But a precise and fair figure? Nope.

Why? Because there are a number of other factors that determine "value".

What have similar homes (or cars) sold for recently? How long did it take them to sell? Is demand currently strong? Weak? Somewhere in between? What's the premium currently being paid for extra features such as a pool or a shed (sunroof or leather)?

A Dealer tries to access such issues, and of necessity, "opinion" and "subjectiveness" are going to play a significant role. And much the same way as having your house appraised for a loan, you'll get different answers from different "experts".

Another factor is very fluid. The Dealer will certainly check what similar vehicles have sold for at the wholesale, Dealer-Only car auctions. Have there been a lot of them? Did the bidding of other Dealers indicate local Dealer demand?

What could he buy this same car for at the auction? If he's unable to sell it, what price would he likely get for it at the auction? Does he have other similar vehicles in stock that have been difficult to sell?

And then, whatever figure the Dealer comes up with, he's going to reduce it a bit further to reduce the risk he's taking in investing in your car. He doesn't want to lose the profit he's making on your new car when selling or disposing of your trade-in.

So what's a consumer left to do? Well, unfortunately, it's negotiate, negotiate, negotiate ... as unpleasant as it is.

The best alternative, however, is to sell the car on your own. Although this takes additional time and effort, it is often well worthwhile.

One way to do this is actually very simple: just put a "For Sale" sign in your back window. We've seen this for years, but now that virtually everyone has a cell phone, it often works quite quickly.

Another alternative is to list your vehicle online since people shop for cars on the internet now far more now than reading newspaper classified ads. High traffic sites such as AutoTrader or Cars.com charge in the $40 to $70 range and usually the ad runs until the vehicle is sold.

Hosting an Event: Doors Open Ontario

From April to October each year, communities open the doors to some of their most intriguing and charming heritage sites. Admission to those events is free. And everyone is invited to experience these hidden heritage treasures first-hand. Communities boast of their commercial buildings, courthouses, places of worship, gardens, and natural heritage sites.

In early spring 2006 we were asked to participate in the Doors Open Event in our County.

Doors Open started in France in 1984 and soon spread to neighboring countries, including the Netherlands, Sweden, the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Scotland. In 1991, these events were united as European Heritage Days

In 2000, the City of Toronto started the first Doors Open event in North America and in 2002, the Ontario Heritage Trust launched the province wide Doors Open Ontario. It is now held across North America with events now being held in Newfoundland, Alberta, Massachusetts, Western New York State, New York City and Denver.

We own a modern Equestrian facility, home to a breeding farm of Warmblood horses and a riding school. Weve organized many tours over the years and we were quite willing to participate. We were asked to send a good photo of our facility and this photo, along with a short description of our site, was published in the official Doors Open magazine. This magazine is available at all tourists information booths.

Several information sessions were held where we were given information about what to do. We were given Doors Open T shirts for our volunteers, tracking sheets, survey sheets, and many flyers.

Having about 40 horses, mares, stallions, young stock and schooling horses, we had some very busy days before hand.

The riding school students had been practicing a musical show, called a quadrille, where they preformed to music on horseback. It is always a very nice opportunity for the students to show off to the public what they can do. The day before the Event they all came to wash their horses, braid them and fancy them up. White ponies all of a sudden had a pink tail and main thanks to Cool Aid juice.

Riders and horses were color coordinated, with orange or yellow ribbons and beads in their mane, and the same color polos and saddle pads.

On the days of the event people started coming in at 10 am and a steady stream of visitors came in till we took the signs away on the road at 5 pm. We had a program for our days, and although we did send it to the organizing committee and the radio, most people did not know about the program, missing out on some of the parts they would have liked to see.

Besides the musical performance by the students on horse back, we also had one of our stallions jump on an artificial mare while we collected his semen. We then had the people look at the semen under the microscope so that they could see how that looked. This was definitely one of the most popular events as not many people get a chance to see it.

We closed the day off with a demonstration free-jumping, a training aid for young horses. Free-jumping is when horses jump over a series of jumps without a rider on their back. This is so we can judge their natural ability as jumpers.

We also took the people around through the barns explaining the equipment we have, like a computerized exercise machine and other features of the facility.

The purpose of a Doors Open Event is so that people can discover what heritage is in their area and see facilities they normally would not have a chance to see.

Several hundreds of people passed through our facility those two days and many commented on how wonderful the Doors Open program is. If there is a Doors Open Event in your area, attend it, it is definitely worthwhile.

An Alphabet Of Horse Racing Terms - B - Part 2

BOOKMAKERS
These can be divided into

* those who make a book on the racecourse
* those who operate betting shops off course
* those who operate a telephone credit service or a postal betting service
* firms who operate spread betting services

A number of big firm bookmakers will combine two or even all of the first three activities. On the racecourse bets are settled at the prices quoted for, if agreed with the backer at starting price.

However they settle them, their activities on course and off course are governed by what goes on in the market, on the racecourse.

A betting market is formed immediately before each race. Prices fluctuate according to the total of money known to be on a particular horse in the ring as a whole.

Amounts of significance are signaled by Tic Tac from the rails to Tattersalls and back, and to the silver ring and bookmakers outside. I.e. on the course itself.

The amount a price will contract or go out in the market varies also, according to whether the market is a weak or strong one.

The prices originally on offer in the early stages of any betting market are not however, based on the money bet, but usually on how the bigger Tattersalls boards operators think the market ought to go.

The earliest prices chalked up are very often shorter than they realistically should be. In the days up to and beyond the great post-war, betting to a true market price was dictated by on course money, largely by big backers and by the professionals, commission agents acting on behalf of others, including trainers and owners, or trainers and owners themselves.

The huge growth of off course betting since the nineteen sixties has changed all that. Seldom do trainers walk up to the rails, get a price about their horse, and affect the market accordingly.

Most money is wagered off the course and is transmitted, and news of it is transmitted, by telephone to the tic tacs acting for the big bookmakers. The entire market reacts accordingly within a few seconds.

The money which causes this is called office money and in the case of big amounts placed off course which crucially affect the market, the horses are known in the ring as betting shop horses.

This concept is crucial to understanding trading on the Betting Exchanges.

It is the Betting Exchanges and the Betting Shops which affect prices on the course. Not the other way around.

Data from online bookies and live on course feeds can be used to confirm price movement data, but should not be used to predict it. Most of the heavy betting nowadays is coming via Betfair and Betdaq.

As the market gets underway and the money starts to reinforce the bookmakers original opinions of the prices, it will cause them to alter prices on the general principle of supply and demand.

A punter can learn a great deal from following the market that is, seeing how the odds are altering. The market can give strong hints on what to back, and, even more important, what not to back.

On the racecourse, this involves having a look at how the prices are going at successive stages in the ten minutes or so immediately before a race.

In the betting shop, with the aid of successive prices marked on the board and shown on video, following the market is rather easier, and watching the television makes it equally simple.

All the market moves can readily be seen on television, and, depending on the channel, are backed up with information on why the prices are going the way they are.

In betting shops with television or video a similar advantage is enjoyed by the punters.

On the racecourse, following the market is rather hard work, because the bookmakers erase the prices successively as they change; but, in general, punters who take the trouble should reap the reward.

Weak markets/ strong markets:

Royal Ascot provides one of the strongest betting markets of the year on the flat, and the Cheltenham festival does so in national hunt racing.

The weakest markets are at small, under patronised courses where the racing is poor.

Here, A few hundred pounds can cause prices to tumble several points, whereas in a strong market the same amount multiplied several times over would cause no price change.

In 1999, an interview with Victor Chandler, the leading bookmaker, some fascinating observations were made on some of the changes that have overtaken the betting scene.

The racecourse punter has never had it so good. To be a punter now is heaven. With no expenses, being a professional punter compared to a bookmaker has to be the best choice he said.

Chandler explained: at Cheltenham last Sunday meeting we did a survey and asked people whether they bet at the races.

Only 37% said yes. The rest either dont bet or bet in small sums with the tote.

That confirms that the culture of racing has changed. My on course business has been decimated in the last two years. For example three or four years ago at the Eclipse meeting at Sandown, we took 200,000 on the big race.

Last year we took 8000...on Sundays, you see an enormous number of prams they are not our punters.

These days the on course bookmaker is doing less and less business, which makes the prices paid for pitches at the recent auctions even more surprising.

BOX WALKER

Term for a horse who will not settle in his loose box aand persistently walks round and round it, thus losing weight and being difficult to train. The cure is often to give the horse a companion such as a goat.

BREEZE UP

A form of bloodstock sale taking place at a racecourse, where instead of the usual practice of whats on offer merely being led around the sale ring, the horses are put through their paces on the course in front of propective buyers. They are allowed to breeze along two or three furlongs.

BRITISH HORSE RACING BOARD

Commonly abbreviated to BHB this is the governing and administrative body for racing which came into being in June 1993 thereby taking over effective overall control from the Jockey Club.

This in itself was the most radical shakeup of racings power structure for more than 200 years and marked a watershed in British racing history.

For the first time racing has as its governing authority, a representative, accountable and democratic body which gives the industry an executive role in shaping its future.

The BHBs principle responsibilities include:

* strategic planning and policy for racing;
* improving the financial position of racing;
* representing racing in dealings with government;
* the fixture list;
* race planning, including the supervision of race programs and the employment of handicappers;
* marketing and promotion of racing;
* nominating racings representatives on the horse race bettings levy board;
* liaison with the betting industry;
* encouraging and fostering breeding of bloodstock;
* collection and control of funds required for the administration of racing, including those required by the jockey club for the protection of the sports integrity;
* the development and maintenance of programs of training and education within racing;
* the contract under which Weatherbys supply administrative services to racing.

In principle the aim of the BHB is to give the leadership needed to put racing in Britain on a sound financial footing. This means ensuring that racing is making the best use of its resources, is maximizing income from outside the sport and has a clear single voice with which to have its views heard in parliament and elsewhere.

Among the BHB, members and representatives of the racecourse association, the Jockey Club, race horse owners association, thoroughbred breeders association, and industry committee.

BUMPING AND BORING

Sometimes in the final stages of a race a horse may be tiring, and the jockey is unable to prevent him or her veering off a straight line, bumping an opponent and "boring" that opponent off its intended course. This may affect the opponents chances, and in certain instances may cost him the race, in which case there will almost certainly be an objection by the losing rider;

Equally certain, in any case, is that when bumping and boring occurs there is a strong possibility of a Stewards inquiry, during which the evidence of the film from a camera patrol and video re-run will be examined.

BY AND OUT OF

Expressions indicating the parentage of a horse. He or she is described as being by a sire [stallion] out of the dam [broodmares], whose origin will often be indicated in pen by brackets giving the name of his sire.

Example Commander in Chief by Dancing Brave out of Slightly Dangerous.

Ancient Egyptian Art -- Timeless and Beautiful Today

Ancient Egyptian Art is one of the most recognized, admired and collected art in the history of the world. From delicate gold jewelry to vivid paintings to massive statues dozens of feet tall, for over 5,000 years Egyptian art has fascinated, delighted and awed generation after generation with its beauty, style and mystery. While genuine ancient pieces of art are rare and extremely valuable, modern Egyptian artists make beautiful art and jewelry that is inspired by some of the greatest recovered works from ancient sites, and which adheres strictly to the styles used by ancient artists. Jewelry in gold and silver with inlaid stones are fashioned after pieces of jewelry recovered from ancient tombs. Papyrus Paintings are painted in vivid color on genuine papyrus, made using the same principles developed thousands of years ago on the banks of the Nile, where the papyrus plant grows to this day. Paintings are executed in the style of frontalism, one of the most striking characteristics of ancient Egypt.

Frontalism

Frontalism is the style in which every known piece of ancient Egyptian art was produced. In paintings, the style of frontalism means that the head of the character is drawn in profile, while the body is drawn from a front view. However, even though the face is in profile, the eye is drawn in full, as it would be seen from the front. The legs always face the same direction as the head, with one foot forward and one back.

Ancient Egyptian figures, especially of gods and pharaohs, are noticeable for their very formal, even rigid stance and posture, but their faces are always serene, regardless of the scene in which they are depicted. There were very strict rules about how a god or pharaoh could be represented, which even included a prohibition against anything being drawn in front of the face or body of the pharaoh, even when the scene depicted clearly required it for any kind of realism. Realism was simply not a goal of ancient Egyptian Art. It is these very formal and stylized rules that have made Egyptian Art one of the most widely recognized forms of art in the world. Over thousands of years Egyptian artists adhered to this one style, which is quite remarkable, especially as compared to the extreme differences in art expression that have occurred in the modern world in just the past 100 years or so. The only acknowledged variations are in the portrayals of animals and common people as compared to the more formal depictions of pharaohs and gods. As can be seen in many Egyptian paintings, animals and common people or slaves are represented in a more natural manner, though still within very strict and formulaic rules.

This frontalist style is the primary reason why ancient Egyptian art is so easily recognizable, and its appeal has lasted through many centuries to this day.

The Top Four Tourist Cities in China

Do you know that Beijing, Xian, Guilin and Hong Kong are the most visited cities in China?

A lot of people refer it as the 'golden route' or 'presidential route' after Bill Clinton visited these cities in 1998.

Certainly the golden route has a good combination of everything: great historical heritages, beautiful landscape, delicious Chinese food, great shopping and so on.

Best time to visit China is spring and autumn when China has beautiful weather and fewer tourists.

If you are a first-time visitor to China, the golden route is your top pick. You would need at least two weeks to complete the tours.

Beijing you would need at least four nights to complete what you need to see and do.

Great Wall of China - the longest man-made architecture on earth. This should be your number one destination in Beijing.

Forbidden City - the former palaces and offices of Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is currently a museum with countless treasures.

Summer Palace - the most well preserved royal resort of Qing Dynasty.

Temple of Heaven is the symbol of Beijing. Ming and Qing emperors worshipped Heaven here.

Please do include a hutong tour in order to have an old Beijing feel. After all, don't forget a Beijing duck feast.

Tip: Beijing travel requires a lot of walking. Please be prepared for it.

Xian everyone should visit Xian at least once in life, Chinese and foreigners alike. Spend three nights here is necessary to cover the most important sightseeing.

Xian has been a capital city for 13 dynasties, totaling 1,100 years. It was the worlds most prosperous city in Tang Dynasty, 1300 years ago.

The Terra Cotta Warriors is a full-scale replication of the Qin Dynasty army. There is no other place in the world you can see a life-size army of over 2,000 years old.

Banpo Neolithic village is a famous site of 6,000 years old which has typical features of a matriarchal society. Youll also see clues of ancient burial, marriages, creative tools and artifacts.

In Xian, dont forget to go for a dumpling feast which usually goes with a first class entertainment show of Tang Dynasty music and dance.

Guilin is ranked second on Chinas list of top 10 tourists destinations. It has beautiful landscape integrated with fabulous countryside. Make sure you wont miss the Reed Flute Cave, the Crown Cave and some of the beautiful peaks.

Dont forget to make a day trip to Yangshuo where the best hills and waters are. Go there on a Li River cruise and return by bus. If you choose to stay overnight, you would be able to watch the spectacular Liu Sanjie performance, which takes place on the Li River. Yangshuo is truly a place for you to relax and enjoy.

In Guilin, make sure to go for a rice noodle feast. Or you can just eat it as a street food at 2 per bowl. They are extremely yummy.

A Guilin tour including Yangshuo would require a minimum stay of three nights.

Hong Kong is very different from any other mainland Chinese cities. In Hong Kong, you can experience one-country-two-systems. I would suggest a minimum stay of three nights here.

Being Asias World City nowadays, Hong Kong is an important leg on the China travel golden route.

There are several bests of Hong Kong. The worlds best night view, best skyline, best shopping paradise, best gourmets paradise and so on. You would be able to buy the trendiest everything here at the lowest prices in the world, including authentic luxury goods.

Cantonese cuisine is one of the yummiest among Chinese foods. Dont forget to go for a dim sum lunch and a typical Cantonese seafood dinner.

Buying Luggage

People who travel consider their luggage as indispensable as tickets or money, even they only travel infrequently or on occasion. Purchasing luggage can get to be expensive, so its really necessary to carefully think about each purchase you make before buying a single thing. A few crucial factors have to be kept in mind when buying luggage; these may help you decide what to buy and how much to spend.

Your luggage can be both trendy and sensible, you know. The more you use your luggage, the faster it will wear out. Durability and practicality should be the most important features of any luggage you buy, especially if you travel frequently. If checking baggage is a regular aspect of your travels, then you should consider not only durability and practicality, but cost as well. Losing a set of expensive, designer luggage through the airline can be extremely stressful and frustrating, to say the least. Statistically speaking, the chances of losing luggage and never getting it back are fairly low, but your odds increase the more you travel.

Luggage can be purchased either by individual pieces or in a set, so you should determine how much luggage you need. When traveling for business purposes, a garment bag, suitcase, and travel bag may be all that you need. You can usually buy luggage sets that include all these at a better price than purchasing them individually, but make sure to compare prices and brands first before making a decision. A four or five piece luggage set may prove to be more adaptable as time goes by, thus getting you the best value for your money.

Purchasing luggage that fits your exact style and design should be considered, especially if you really need only one or two pieces. How you usually carry or bring along your luggage will help you decide what style you should buy. Larger suitcases and bags become heavy when fully packed, so you should look for styles that are easier to carry and move, such as travel bags or suitcases with handles and wheels. The inside design of the luggage should also be considered, in order to be sure that there is enough room and compartments to hold the items you typically travel with.

Designer luggage is generally considered to be of high quality, but don't forego the possibility of finding well-made luggage from a discount retailer when youre looking for pieces for periodic or light use. You usually only need a couple of pieces of luggage when going camping, going off to college, or the occasional road trip, so it shouldnt matter if the luggage youre going with are mismatched. However, experienced travelers warn against bringing along mismatched luggage when traveling by airplane, since matching sets are usually easier for baggage handlers to identify.

You should also look up department stores, discount retailers, and online retailers, so you can compare different brands and prices. Reading a consumer guide before buying would be helpful for checking consumer ratings on the different types of luggage that you might be planning to buy. Comparing cost, style, durability and practicality will help you select just the right luggage for your travel needs and will help assure you that your purchase is a good one. If you are buying luggage for someone as a gift and don't want to consult them, consider purchasing a basic three piece set in a neutral color and style.

The Science Behind Male Menopause

Once a man is in his mid-forties, he will eventually start to be concerned on the next stage of life, which is death. As a result, his apprehension of being next among those he knew who have passed away will eventually lead to several symptoms of which is often times referred to as mid-life crisis. This particular phase in a man's life is called male menopause or medically known as andropause.

Loss of energy and fluctuation of mans virility level are just some of the most notable indicator of andropause. This is because of the alteration of the production of male sex hormones. Generally, this problem occurs to a man during the age of 45 up to 55.

Actually, andropause are two distinct stages that occur among males and are most of the time considered as one. As a matter of fact, mid-life crisis and andropause are associated with each other because mid-life crisis occurs to men between the ages of 35-45 years, which is before the andropause phase.

On the other hand, andropause may occur early depending on the person will respond to his mid-life crisis; and may also be delayed if that particular person maintains a healthy and active lifestyle.

Another symptom of andropause is the irregular loss of vitality. Meaning that particular person may be more irritable, significant loss of sex drives and the most notable is depression. Though most people consider these occurrences as normally caused by aging. In the field of medicine, andropause had become a disorder rather than a normal phase in a mans life. That is why medical science is constantly finding ways to solve this problem.

The predicament that usually occurs in a mans life called andropause is not inherited nor is it natural to all men. That is because, unlike menopause a predicament that occurs on women on the same of the same age andropause can be avoided and treated.

Stress is also one of the major factors that trigger andropause. Psychological stress and physical stress can lead to too much alcohol intake in the body and cigarette consumption. They can greatly aggravate the symptoms of andropause.

Usually, the result of malnutrition or nutritional deficiency of the mans body can lead to andropause. Symptoms such as nervousness, memory loss and low sex drive could be attributed to normal aging or shortage of chromium.

However, not all men can experience the effects of andropause. Such crisis is considered by some as an insult to a male body. That is why, having a healthy lifestyle is the main weapon in order to avoid or minimize the effects of male menopause.

Copied from the American Diabetes Association web site

As you can see 9 out of 10 of people are overweight when suffering from type 2 diabetes, therefore, it is imperative that body weight must be controlled.

One must look at the percentage of people overweight on this continent today; it wasnt like that 40 years ago was it? A person doesnt have to be a rocket scientist to know why this is so, we live in a different world today.

Our whole atmosphere, soil conditions, eating habits, are so different. The toxins we collect in our bodies which effect our organs do not allow our systems to work as the should.

I recall, a couple of years ago a show on Oprah Winfrey. Oprah had as a guest some sort of specialist, what he was doing was cutting up cadavers. Not the best subject for a show I think you will agree. The whole thing wasnt very pleasant.

The specialist opened the subjects stomach and took out I would suggest about 10 lbs of pure fat. Right in the middle of the fat was the liver.

We have to ask ourselves how apart from the man carrying all this extra weight around all his life, how ever did his liver or his kidneys work to full efficiency.

You can well understand, Oprah had a lot to say about this as you can well understand.

They went into a long discussion as to why this was happening way more than it ever did.

They brought things up how thousands and thousands of people were suffering with so many different illnesses, which included diabetes due mainly to the toxins.

I quote from another article I wrote, Why we have to get rid of toxins

Victims of a Toxic Colon

Have you ever considered this simple question: Are you clean inside? We shower, brush our teeth and wash our hair on a daily basis, but we tend to ignore cleansing our insides until some form of disease sends us a wake-up call. Believe it or not, our insides, especially the colon which functions as the sewer system of our body, also requires regular cleaning.

Constipation, parasites, IBS, gas, bloating, stomach pain, chronic fatigue, digestive problems can all be signs of a toxic colon. Dont be a victim, suffering silently from these painful and often embarrassing health conditions. Find out the truth about colon cleansing and how it can help you.

Why Is Colon Cleansing So Crucial?

We are all exposed to thousands of toxins and chemicals on a daily basis at work, in the home, through the air we breathe, our food and water supply, and through the use of pharmaceutical drugs. In addition, we are eating more sugar and processed foods than ever before in human history and regularly abuse our bodies with various stimulants and sedatives.

"Death Begins in the Colon"

These toxins and dead foods lead to poor digestion, constipation, toxic colon build-up, weight gain and low energy.

These common symptoms are more than just an inconvenience they can lead to long-term health problems and serious disease.

The combination of environmental toxins, an unhealthy diet and parasites poses a grave danger to humans. In fact, parasites have killed more humans than all the wars in history, reported National Geographic in its award-winning documentary, The Body Snatchers.

In order to rid ourselves of these toxins it was required someone came up with a body cleanse which would be able to clean out the fat particles, and the toxins from the colon, liver, kidneys and lungs,plus all the other organs. I am happy to say I used John Anderson's natural cleanse, after I used it I felt 100% better.

Don't go on a Lousy Golf School Vacation - Here's How to Choose Correctly

I love golf! Don't you? I'm not very good at it but I will play as often as I can and I play every chance I get. The thing is I live in Chicago. So playing year round is not always possible -- at least not in warm weather unless I go South. But where do I go? There are so many great golf courses and life so short.

I decided to write this article because in my passion, I have found 4 very important questions to ask that will insure you will find thd the perfect golf vacation. Be careful. I have made some mistakes in the past because I did not do my homework in advance.

Golf Schools come wrapped in shiny packages with fancy trimmings. Be careful not to go for the first golf vacation you hear about. Do some reaearch and find the right golf package match for you, your habits, your style and your golf game.

So, how do you know which golf school vacation is right for you? It's simple. How much do you know about yourself? Be honest. This is your nickel.

1) What do you want to achieve?

2) How committed are you to your game?

3) Is your goal to have fun and drink with your friends without the wives around?

4) Or are you dedicated to improving your game for the coming season on this golf vacation?

Try asking yourself this: When you think of a golf vacation, which comes first for you - the golf or the vacation?

Some golf schools demand your entire focus. Other golf schools understand you need time to relax and scope out other activities. So know if you are looking more for the golf or the vacation.

If I'm planning a trip to a Maui golf school or going out to Las Vegas for golf instruction, I'm thinking there's a pretty good chance I'll be checking out the local sights and entertainment.

If you're like me, you're going to find a school that offers half-day instruction. Train your skills first thing in the morning, get a bite to eat (usually included in your tuition), then see how you feel. Hit the casinos, beach or the golf course in the afternoon.

Like I said, I stink at the game but I do have some experience. Are you a new golfer or could you hit the PGA Tour?

Beginners should check out golf schools that offer low student-instructor ratios. A 5:1 ratio or lower is the best for beginning golfers. Most likely you want a school that limits class size.

Experienced golfers will need a school that offers on-course instruction. You might need your swing looked at in game like scenarios. Get your instruction on the course.

How do you like to learn? Your style might benefit from the attention offered by low student-instructor ratios. This may not be a necessity for an experienced golfer. This is totally up to your learning style preference.

How's your short game? I can drive for show but when it comes time to outt for dough. (Maybe I shouldn't have told you that) Do you have a nice low handicap but your golf game goes in the tank 90 yards from the pin?

You need to find a golf school that concentrates on training your short game and course management. If your golf swing is basically sound, pick a golf vacation school that focuses the majority of your instruction time by getting you out on the course.

The golf training market is very competitive. If you want the very best, find golf vacation schools that will focus on individual aspects of your golf game. Comparison shop. (Isn't this why the internet was invented?)

In the time it takes for me to get out of a sand trap, you can find a golf school that will help you shave a stroke or two off your already low handicap. Or in my case, keep me from embarrassing myself in front of my friends.

Some other real quick questions to ask at a golf vacation school: Is lodging included? Are meals included? Does the tuition include rounds of golf? You can find a whole batch of information about all the golf vacation schools at http://www.universalgolfinformation.com

Diesel Engine Pros and Cons

The diesel engine is fast becoming on of the more economical choices for individuals. With the rising costs of fuels, it is seen that diesel is still one of the more affordable options. It in the best has generated a reputation for being very much a major source of pollution but in recent times has been cleaned up to a great extent.

The biggest advantage of the diesel engine is seen in the fact that the fuel is much more economical. The diesel engine gives a lot more than the gasoline engine for much reduced costs. There is an approximate advantage of using diesel of as much as 30% at times. There is less fuel consumed for the same task and you therefore do not have to refill your tank as often.

The reason many persons do not opt for the diesel engine is in fact the initial start up costs of installing such an engine. The extra costs are quite high for the engine and its installation. If you however look into the savings overall the diesel engine will in fact be the more economical choice.

It is seen too that the vehicle that is installed with a diesel engine will retain more value than the gasoline engine. This is due to there being a demand for vehicles that are fuel efficient on the market as the cost of fuel continues to rise. The diesel engine vehicles also tend to stay on the road longer. If properly maintained these will outlast the typical gasoline engine.

It can also be seen that the diesel engine will give a different drive from a gasoline engine. The vehicle running on a diesel engine will have more of a zip too it. The vehicles will also have more power for tasks such as towing as the diesel engine can handle more load.

There is also another downfall associated with the diesel engine. This is the fact that it is much noisier when compared to the gasoline engine. This noise level is however no where as loud as the past and is in fact quite bearable to users. In fact most of the typical drivers on the road will not be able to tell the difference between a diesel engine and a gasoline engine.

Emissions continue to be a cause for concern for the environmentally conscious. It is true that the diesel engine has come a long way from times gone by in terms of emissions but it is still dirtier than the gasoline engine. There is more visible pollution from the diesel engine and this is due to the fact that the diesel engine will throw out more particulates from the exhaust tailpipe as well as more nitrogen oxides. There is however less carbon dioxide pollution. This is a tradeoff but it is the dilemma that many persons face when choosing between the gasoline and the diesel engines.

One of the other concerns when dealing with the diesel engine is the fuel availability. The diesel fuel is commonly found at truck stops on highways bit is not as common in neighborhood service stations. It is vital that consideration be made of where you will source fuel for a diesel engine. It is also seen that there are not that many options when purchasing a diesel engine car so the choices are limited.

Playing Poker Online What To Avoid At Any Cost

Wow - You've see it on TV. The glamour, the glitz, THE CASH!!! and you may have noticed that one of the key skills in any poker game is observation. In a live game there are relatively few distractions and you get to watch the reactions and body language of your opponents.

Playing online is a whole different ball game. Theres the TV, the family, the dog, the phone, in fact it seems like the whole world wants your attention. This is not good for your game and ultimately your poker earnings. Oops you just folded that AA when you wanted to raise. Damn now you called an all-in bet with junk and you meant to fold. Dont laugh, I've done both of these and its cost me quite a few dollars!!

So now youre in the Den, its quiet and at last you can concentrate. Ah, lets just reply to these emails, do that search for a new BBQ and review the excellent www.pokerwebonline.com site for the best bonus deals. Hey what do you mean Im sitting out?? Multi-tasking the modern day buzz word. And a total killer for your poker profits.

Its a tough enough game to beat when youre fully concentrating, on top of your game and playing the best that you can. So why handicap yourself by not giving it the attention it deserves. And have fun while youre doing it. Chat and Smack Talk while you play, you may send a player on tilt! But dont forget to concentrate, it takes a lot of focus and discipline, especially when the game is slow and youre just not getting any cards. Dont be tempted to push for some action youll lose more money quicker than that!

The best way to split your attention is to play 2 or even 3 tables at a time. This guarantees that you cant focus your attention on any particular table. If you must do this, (and Im certainly guilty of it!!), play a tournament and a ring game, or 2 tournaments. Try and avoid playing multiple ring games, its just not profitable in the long run unless youre Howard Leaderer of Phil Ivey.

Pick a card room and a table that suit how you play. At the lower limits thats easier said than done, but by OBSERVING whats going on, youll get a feel for the table after a few hands and for little or no expense, depending on whether you posted and went through the blinds or not. If it doesnt suit you, get up and find another table. Itll be far cheaper in the long run than trying to force the table youre on. Know when to cut and run and when to stay.

As the play progresses youll notice players leaving and joining. Pay extra attention here as the fish you were milking has left and a tight aggressive player is now in their place. This could affect the complexion of the whole table and make it unprofitable to continue.

Play tight, aggressive and sensibly and your bank roll will grow over time and maybe Ill see you at the WSOP!! Im All-in!!!

Maldives Holidays Important Facts

Before booking a luxury holidays in the Maldives, or a cheap holiday in the Maldives, any hotel in the Maldives, or you might just be looking for any island hideaway in the Maldives, it is important that you know where you are going to, and what you will find when you get there.

Too many people arrive at their holiday destination having chosen it only for the price, and a dubious guarantee of sunshine, and have never investigated their destination for its suitability for themselves and their family. A disastrous vacation can often be rescued by the surrounding countryside, but this wont be possible in the Maldives, because you are probably going to be trapped on an island, and that hotel in the Maldives may be on an island you can walk round in a few minutes. So you need to know something about where you are going at the very outset.

The Maldives are in fact an archipelago consisting of 1190 low lying coral islands scattered across the equator, in groups of 26 naturally occurring atolls. The Maldives is 45 minutes from Colombo, 3 hours from Dubai, 4 hours from Singapore, and 13 hours from London.

On the map it is in the Indian Ocean just south west from Sri Lanka, and you dont need a visa.

The Maldives literally sits on top of the Equator so it is a year round 25-30 degrees Celsius, and has frequently been described as paradise on earth.

If your idea of paradise is is a pristine tropical island with swaying palm trees with a pure white sand beach all the way round and then a limpid blue and turquoise sea, then the Maldives is just exactly that.

It is sunny, quite unique, and almost totally unspoiled.

The hotels range from the top of the range giving you the perfect luxury holiday in the Maldives to the other end where there are plenty cheap Maldives Holidays, as well as the total hideaway Maldive islands. They all have one thing in common and that is they are perfect for people who are looking for peace and tranquillity, a chance to rejuvenate and relax. This is not the place to go if you have to spend your holiday visiting places. This is however the place to go if snorkelling or diving are your thing.

It is little wonder that a huge proportion of tourists in the Maldives are returning for a second or third time, simply the place is addictive, with its sun kissed white sand beaches, crystal clear warm lagoons, and multi coloured coral and incredibly exotic marine life. When you consider out of all of the islands only about 200 are inhabited., and of the remaining islands around 100 have become island hotels, there will be more beautiful deserted atolls than you know what to do with.

The Time Value of Money

The time value of money (TVM) is an investment principle that states money is valued greater today than in the future due to inflation and economic conditions. Essentially, a dollar in your pocket today is worth more than a dollar in the future because money may be invested and earn interest over time. The notion of TVM is money is worth more the earlier it is received.

If you loaned a friend $20, would you rather get the money back today or a year from now? You should want the cash today. Think back to the price of movie tickets 10 years ago. The price for a movie ticket at one point was just a few dollars and has risen to almost $10 due to the factor of inflation. By receiving cash today, rather than the future, you can invest the money into an alternate source and potentially receive a higher return for your money. Future value includes the amount of money you would earn through growth in your investments in the future assuming a given interest rate. It is what the cash is worth at a particular time in the future, while present value refers to the value of a given sum of money today. The same principle applies to real estate notes. A real estate note, a mortgage for example, is created with specific terms, conditions and a length of time for its return. In order to exchange the note for cash, a notes present value is determined through a discount analysis to appraise its current worth, which will differ from the notes value in 10 years.

To demonstrate TVM and why it can be more advantageous to have money now rather than the future, consider the following example. If you own a real estate note that is appraised at present value for $150,000 you can cash out now and spend the money, or you can invest in alternate sources for a higher return on your investment. By receiving the money today, you can avoid dealing with late payments and the risk of not receiving a payment at all. Immediate cash appeals to most much more than receiving money in the future. The following illustration of TVM shows the change in value of $150,000 over a year if invested with a rate of return of 10 percent.

Future Value = (Present Value) x (1 + Rate of Return)

Future Value = (150,000) x (1 + 10%)

Future Value = (150,000) x (1.1)

Future Value = $165,000

Understanding the time value of money is essential to achieving financial success, as this concept allows you to evaluate the potential value of money today in comparison to the future. When you talk about mortgages, loans, car notes and retirement funds, the practical knowledge of time value of money can help you accomplish the wealth you have longed for.

How to Care for Your Fine Jewelry

Training Your Fine Jewelry:

The first thing you should do is to give your fine jewelry its own little space for when it is not being worn and train it to stay there. Jewelry items do not live or party well together. Much of the damage, other than wear, that is done to jewelry happens in jewelry boxes. Stones scratch each other and the metals around them. Chains get caught in tangles that almost always cause some sort of damage.

Cleaning Your Fine Jewelry:

The best way to clean your fine jewelry is with a soft (used) toothbrush and a mild dish detergent. If the pieces are very dirty, you can soak them in detergent and water. Do not use harsh cleaners such as chlorine bleach or ammonia. It is not advisable to use toothpaste either. Many contain a mild abrasive, which will remove some metal and cause a dull finish. Any competent jeweler can polish items on occasion, but this process also removes small amounts of metal and so should be used sparingly.

Checking Prongs & Stones:

If the stone moves in the setting, put it in some kind of small bag or container and take it to your nearest qualified jeweler. The small bag prevents loss of the stone should it fall out. Loose stones are also more easily chipped or broken. Another good indicator of a loose prong is if the piece gets caught in clothing or hair by a prong.

Checking for Wear and Tear:

Over time, gold and silver will wear down. This can happen over months or years. This can be a problem for people who do certain kinds of work. The solution to this type of problem is the use of heavier metal in the prongs, the use of platinum for the setting or the use of a bezel setting to secure the stone. Prongs should be checked occasionally and if thin they should be replaced. The bands on rings can also become quite thin and eventually need replacing. The thinner the band to begin with the faster this will happen.

If you give your jewelry a little care and check it periodically for wear and overall condition, it will give you many years to a lifetime of joy. A competent jeweler can recondition most pieces so long as the damage hasnt been allowed to go too far.

Plan Ahead for Travel to Europe

A few tips that could help you are:

1. Plan sooner, not later. Now is the time to get the best prices, the best seats, and the best schedules. Delays limit your options. Check out promotional offers through airlines and travel agencies and remember to use those frequent flier miles!

For those that do, request visas well in advance of the trip to avoid last-minute delays. Bring copies of your birth certificate, immunization records, and driver's license. They aren't required in most European countries, but they will help to identify you if your wallet or passport are lost or stolen.

3. Go to the doc for an exam. Ask if there are any areas of Europe under any kind of health alert. Bring your records, prescriptions, and immunizations up-to-date. Get instructions for any chronic ailments that may be problematic. See your pharmacist to assure you have sufficient quantities of medications for the trip as getting refills in Europe could prove difficult.

4. When planning your Europe itinerary, get complete information about hours of operation for sites or departure and arrival times for tours and transportation. Get information on currency exchange rates, what common terms would be useful to recognize in the languages of the countries you're visiting, locate maps of the areas you're travelling in, and any other information you feel you need to insure an efficient and satisfying trip. You may want to get a book or two from the library about the countries you'll be seeing. Getting a recording for language study is also a good idea. Like everything else suggested here, do these things long before you depart for Europe.

Germanys Top Tourist Attractions

Millions of visitors flock to Germany each year, and as each year passes that number grows larger. The United States alone accounts for almost 3 million visitors each year. Visitors to Germany come for the welcoming and friendly nature of the people, the breathtaking landscapes and natural beauty, and the world-class accommodations available for every one from the budget-minded traveler to the jet-setting celebrity. Here is a list of some of the top attractions that are considered must-see in Germany, in no particular order.

The Black Forest

Secluded pine-laden woodlands located in southwestern Germany, the Black Forest is famous for being the origin of cuckoo clocks. The area gets its name from the dark shadows of the fir and pine trees that grow very thick there. The black forest offers first rate hiking, camping, and some skiing. Travelers on a budget can find great deals on lodging and accommodations in the towns that surround the Black Forest.

The Frisian Islands

These islands actually span along the coastlines of three countries: Germany, Denmark, and The Netherlands. Sylt is the largest and most populated of the islands and is a known destination for Europes jet-set as well as nudists. Amrum is also a hot tourist spot but less crowded. The pristine beaches, panoramic views, and relative seclusion continue to draw in visitors looking to escape the bustle of more traditional destinations.

Oktoberfest

Munich makes that claim that it is the home of beer and if 6 million visitors is any indication, that claim seems to be valid. Oktoberfest is known worldwide as a celebration of Bavarian beer and lasts several weeks long, from mid-September to early October. The 200 year old festival includes events such as parades, beer tents, music features, feasts of authentic German cuisine, and exhibits.

City of Berlin

Berlin is Germanys largest city and is the countrys capital. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall almost two decades ago, the city has grown and evolved into a modern, bustling metropolis that prides itself on looking to the future while preserving the past. There are landmarks to remind visitors of the strains that history has put on the city, but much of Berlin now has an unmistakable American feel to it. Berlin should be on every German visitors list to visit.

Neuschwanstein Castle

Located near the Austrian border, Neuschwanstein Castle has the title of the most photographed building in Germany. It is also the most famous of all of the German castles and was the inspiration for Disneys Sleeping Beauty Castle located in Disneyland. Neuschwanstein Castle was built in the 19th century by King Ludwig II. Photography of the interior of the castle is strictly prohibited, as it is copyright-protected.

Lake Constance

Lake Constance lies between Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and is fed by the Rhine River, one of the longest in Europe. It is a freshwater lake that is relied upon for water consumption by nearby cities and towns. Recreation draws many tourists from across Europe and beyond each year.
